Socialism vs Egotism

A Socialist and an Egotist walk into a bar decide to run for President of the United States of America.

Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, doesn’t it? I wish it was, but this is one of those times when truth is stranger than fiction.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, along comes a presidential candidate that actually admits to being a socialist and another that is a blatant egotist. Now I know and understand that most politicians are basically egotists and I also understand that ever since FDR’s “New Deal”, Democrats have been leaning more and more towards socialism. But it seems that neither Donald Trump nor Bernie Sanders have any intention of honoring the Constitution of the United States of America.

There was a time in America when those running for political office were doing so in order to represent and serve their constituents. They were looked upon as trusted servants of the people.

Yes, I know that throughout our nation’s history, there have been those who have catered more to big business and “special interest” groupsĀ  and that there have been times when our nation’s future has looked rather bleak. But it seems like there were those who stepped up to right the wrongs and re-balance the scales of injustice. That seems to have ended when JFK was assassinated.

Certain groups were no longer willing to allow the people’s will to be represented. Covert and clandestine plans were drawn up in an effort to produce results favorable to the groups that were sponsoring them. At first it was clumsy and some attempts were exposed and/or simply didn’t come to fruition. Once the learning curve was mastered, operations and operatives became ever more clandestine and covert. No longer is it possible to tell the true from the false because of all the misinformation that is propagated in an effort to keep the truth hidden. In fact, it has been so successful that “conspiracy theories” are just that — theories. They no longer carry the weight and interest they once did. Instead, books, television and movies crank out some of the most fascinating political fiction (that is probably based on tidbits of truth) so as to keep the public eye entertained and no longer considering (or caring about) what is really taking place in “the land of the free and the home of the brave“.

Thus, we face the distasteful task of choosing between the most dishonorable candidates we have ever seen, to lead our nation into a future no one wants to contemplate or live through. We are following in the the footsteps of Rome and are falling apart at the seams. It is just a matter of time before this nation once again enters into a civil (sic) war which will immediately be followed by one or more nations (think Russia, China, Iran) come swooping in to grab up as much as they can of our people and resources.

Why? Simple, really. We abandoned God and pursued our pleasures instead. Now it is time to pay the piper.
